Titans Draft Review

Tennessee Titans
Picks: WR Kenny Britt, DT Sen’Derrick Marks, TE Jared Cook, CB Ryan Mouton, LB Gerald McRath, OT Troy Kropog, RB Javon Ringer, CB Jason McCourty, WR Dominique Edison, G Ryan Durand, DE Nick Schommer

The Titans enjoyed a great 2008 regular season finishing 13-3 and had home field advantage for the playoffs but they lost their first playoff game to the Baltimore Ravens.  The Titans have not had a true dominant number one wide receiver for years and have ignored this need in previous drafts but that finally stopped this year.  With the 30th pick the Titans took Kenny Britt from Rutgers.  Britt is a big, physical receiver that has number one receiver potential.  He fell a little bit due to questions about his attitude but doesn’t look like that big of a risk.  Britt will be given the opportunity to start right away opposite Nate Washington.  In the second round the Titans took defensive tackle Sen’Derrick Marks.  The Titans did have a big need after losing Albert Haynesworth in free agency but Marks was a reach at the end of the second round.  In the third round the Titans took tight end Jared Cook.  Cook is a great pass catcher as the tight end position and has displayed his 4.5. 40 speed at the scouting combine.  Cook should give the Titans another much needed passing weapon to the Titans passing attack.  Ryan Mouton is a project at corner but can help out right away in the return game.  In the fourth round the Titans had a nice pick in Gerald McRath who is a big linebacker that should push for time right away.  The Titans needed some offensive line depth and fourth round pick Troy Kropog should provide that and can eventually start for the Titans.  The Titans put together a good draft class but their first two picks while being talented has some question marks.
